Gumtree Scammer Uses Fake Payment Screenshots

A reddit report about a impersonation scam that cost someone Amount not specified. Learn how to avoid falling victim.

Beware of a Gumtree scammer who goes by different aliases; currently he's called Ryan. He has scammed me and attempted to scam my friend by sending screenshots of a mobile banking app showing fake transactions. He also wants the money to be sent after you post it at the post office. He uses two addresses (maybe more) for receiving the parcel, and after it's delivered, he completely stops messaging you. To prove he is 'real' he sends a passport photo and a photo of him with that passport, but that is not him, so he is also doing identity theft. I have actually spoken to this Ryan and he was the scammer's first victim and also attempted to scam him. These two addresses are in London, by the way. If you're out of London, he will expect you to deliver. Please don't fall for it like I annoyingly and stupidly did! Learnt my lesson! (no hate comments lol) Just putting this out there.
