Have I been taken for a mug? I recently put together a parcel of essentials like food, cleaning products, and toiletries, and posted them on my Facebook advertising them free for collection for someone genuinely in need. I had a comment and a message from this man asking if he could collect the parcel, and I even offered to send him 10.00 towards extra bits that I hadn't provided.
He told me he'd be getting a food bank referral on Tuesday and this was the Thursday before Easter, so I thought this would help him manage until then.
I said he could collect in the morning, and when the morning came he said he was waiting for a lift and would get back to me. He also proceeded to ask me if I could lend him some money until Tuesday and he'd pay me back. I didn't have a lot myself for the week, so I said I couldn't, and then he asked again. At this point I was a bit alerted by this.
Anyway, he never came to collect the parcel, and he knew I lived in Lincolnshire. So I gave the parcel to someone else, only to later find out he lived in Bradford and was never coming for it anyway – but happily took the money and would've taken more if I gave it. So I posted him on Facebook to name and shame.
