Fake TD Fraud Call and Courier Card Pickup Scam

I’m sharing this to raise awareness. I’m in Canada and I have an account with TD. Please be careful, don’t trust calls that don’t come from official numbers. These scammers were extremely convincing. No accent, very professional, and they knew exactly what to say. They told me there was an $864 transaction from Vancouver on my credit card and that they had blocked it. Then they said they were calling to verify and resolve the issue. They asked me to check my past transactions, and I actually saw a few small charges I didn’t recognize, so it made everything feel real. They asked for my address and explained that my card had been cloned, and that they would proceed with a full cancellation. I trusted them, especially because I’ve been scammed before. Then they told me to change my PIN, cut my card, and said a courier would come pick it up. I followed everything… I even cut my card as they told and handed over my card to the driver that came. I know now I could’ve been more careful. Seriously I don’t know how I fell for this… But when I got home, it suddenly hit me. I panicked and called the bank immediately. What’s scary is they call at times when local branches are closed. I called the number I found online, but to reach someone, I needed my card number, which I had already given them. Thankfully, I had a photocopy somewhere. My room was a mess while I was desperately trying to find it. I was shaking trying to move faster than the scammers. I finally found it, entered my card number, and got through to a real agent. They immediately froze my funds and credit and issued new card numbers. This was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. I was so close to losing everything. Please be careful. Take a second to verify before trusting any call, even if it sounds completely real.
