Fake MMS download text appears to come from my mom

A reddit report about a impersonation scam that cost someone Amount not specified. Learn how to avoid falling victim.

I've been getting texts that say 'New MMS message to download.' When I open the message, I see a download icon. The first few times, they were from unknown numbers. But this time it was from my mom. I've included a screenshot of the text convo between me and my mom. You can see the icon, and then my reply asking my mom if she actually sent it to me (she did not). My mom is the person I text most often. I'm concerned that someone hacked into my phone or something in order to obtain this information. Should I be concerned? Should I do anything about this? Edit: I should mention that I'm from the US and so is my phone, but I'm currently in Finland.
