I wonder whether this was a scam, and if so what the "seller" got out of it. I purchased an item from Facebook Marketplace to be shipped to me. I authorized payment for the item plus the cost of shipping. I checked the status of the order on the first day of the estimated delivery range, and although the order was marked as "confirmed" and an order number was provided, the item had not been shipped. The listing remained up, but was now marked as "Pending" (not "Sold"), and the estimated delivery range was pushed forward about a week. I messaged the seller to ask what was going on, given the situation described above. The seller cancelled my order and marked the item as "Sold". The seller did not get money from me because he cancelled my order. I think the seller got my home address, but nothing more. I really wanted the item and was very much looking forward to receiving it, so I am disappointed and confused. What was the point of what he did? What is the proper recourse for this on Marketplace? Is it a scam to get home addresses of Marketplace users or something else?
