Hello all. Recently ran across this eBay scam being pulled by a seller.
Purchased an inexpensive, small item on eBay. Seller provided FedEx tracking number. Tracking said it was delivered to my zip code. Almost immediately seller messaged me saying the item was lost in transit and a new one would be sent out (it was not). This seemed off to me so I opened a case on eBay. I decided to punch the tracking number into FedEx's site. The parcel attached to the tracking number weighed 80 lbs and was in a very large box—my item was much smaller and weighed a couple of pounds at most. I wasn't able to see the address it was delivered to, but it was signed for by someone I do not know.
A few days later eBay ruled against me saying item shows delivered. I was ready to close my account when I decided to try calling. The agent immediately overturned the earlier decision and awarded me a refund. Wanted to make people aware of this. Sellers are apparently pulling up tracking numbers in same zip code as the buyer, not sending anything out, and pocketing the money. Make sure you call eBay directly if this happens to you.
