I want to share a recent experience with a fake Cash on Delivery (COD) scam to warn others and ask for advice on where to report this officially.
The Incident
A delivery person arrived at my doorstep with a "COD parcel" for ₹700. I had not placed any such order. The individual appeared to be under the influence and became extremely aggressive when I refused to pay.
The tactic: He argued for 10 minutes, insisting I either pay the cash or share a "Rejection OTP." I refused both. He left, but returned shortly after, claiming his "manager" wanted to speak with me.
The harassment: The person on the phone threatened that they would keep coming to my house daily until I either paid or provided the OTP.
When the "manager" called again, I told them plainly: "Let's meet at the police station. I will collect the parcel and settle the matter there." They disconnected the call immediately.
I am still receiving calls from the number. Does anyone know the best portal to report this? I'm looking into the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal and the Chakshu (Sanchar Saathi) facility. Has anyone successfully reported similar harassment there?
