Swiss Colony's Fine Print Auto-Enrollment

A reddit report about a fake_shopping scam that cost someone $16.95. Learn how to avoid falling victim.

I purchased some Swiss Colony petit fours for an aging relative over the holidays. I did not sign up for "perks". I discovered in February, while reviewing expenses, as one does, a charge for $16.95 for Swiss Colony that I did not make. Before shutting down the card, I contacted Swiss Colony to assess the extent of this fraud. After being passed around, I was told I had enrolled, that auto enrollment when you order is "in the fine print" and continues past a free trial unless you cancel it. So, for those who don't check such things and have ordered from this dinosaur, check your credit card statements. You may now have a $16.95/mo membership you don't want and never knowingly signed up for.
