Fake Panera Caller Steals Uber Eats Account

A reddit report about a fake_shopping scam that cost someone Amount not specified. Learn how to avoid falling victim.

A guy scammed me into getting my Uber Eats account info. I ordered Panera for delivery and they usually partner with Doordash. I got a call from someone who said they were with Panera and they were having technical difficulties and needed to transfer my order to be delivered with Uber Eats instead. He knew the name of the delivery driver assigned to the order and he knew about the Panera order to begin with. I have no idea how he could have gotten this info. I stupidly gave him the Uber Eats verification code he sent to my phone (lesson learned for sure) and then he ordered a bunch of cookies from some bakery in Connecticut (I'm in Georgia, the phone number he used was from Oklahoma). I'm curious how on earth he knew about my Panera order and all of that information. My only theories are that he either works at the Panera or the dasher was in on the scam, but why order stuff in CT?? ugh
